Location

Groote Eylandt

The Yinumarra Health Centre project delivered a new purpose-built healthcare facility for the Aboriginal community of Umbakumba on Groote Eylandt, providing essential medical infrastructure within a remote Northern Territory setting.

Constructed in an isolated location, the project required careful coordination of materials, labour and logistics, including transport via barge and limited access to local resources and infrastructure. Delivery was further influenced by extreme weather conditions, environmental compliance requirements and the need to establish suitable workforce accommodation while maintaining high standards of health and safety.

Successful delivery was achieved through meticulous planning, disciplined resource management and strong collaboration with local stakeholders and the Indigenous community. The completed health centre provides a high-quality, functional facility that supports improved access to healthcare services and long-term community wellbeing in a remote environment.
