Remote Construction
Cairns and Far North Queensland
Located in Kubin Village on Moa Island, this remote housing project delivered ten purpose-built residential dwellings designed to meet the needs of the local community.
The project involved a modular construction approach, with nine homes constructed in Cairns and transported to site via barge, along with all materials and equipment, while the tenth dwelling was delivered in kit form and assembled entirely on site. This approach required careful coordination of fabrication, transport and installation to align with barge schedules and site conditions.
Delivered in a highly remote environment, the project required establishment of a dedicated site camp and detailed logistical planning to support workforce accommodation, materials handling and programme continuity. Through disciplined project management and strong stakeholder engagement, the project was successfully completed on time and within budget. A strong focus on Indigenous participation was maintained throughout delivery, including employment and training of local residents, supporting skills development and long-term community benefit.
