The 12 McIlwraith Street development in Bundaberg South delivered a two-storey social housing complex designed to provide accessible, sustainable and high-quality accommodation within a regional community setting.
The project comprised three Gold Standard units on the ground floor with driveway access, landscaping and undercroft parking, together with four General Standard units on the upper level. The design prioritised accessibility, comfort and energy efficiency, supporting inclusive living outcomes aligned with the Queensland Government’s social housing objectives.
Delivered under a Design and Construct contract, the project benefited from strong regional trade relationships and local site expertise, enabling efficient coordination and high-quality workmanship. Value management initiatives, including the substitution of traditional blockwork with lightweight framing systems, improved buildability while maintaining architectural intent. Despite challenging seasonal weather conditions, adaptive sequencing and proactive resource planning ensured the development was completed on schedule.
