Machans Beach State School, Cairns

The Machans Beach State School project in Cairns delivered a new covered outdoor learning and recreation facility designed to enhance student activity and all-weather usability.

The development comprises a full-size covered basketball and netball court, integrated with a tuck shop and dedicated storage areas, creating a versatile space for both structured sport and informal play. The facility is fully lit, enabling safe use during both day and evening hours.

Constructed within a live school environment, the project required careful planning and coordination to maintain safety and minimise disruption to daily operations. The completed facility provides a functional, flexible and weather-protected space that supports active learning and recreational use for the school community.
