“Habitat on Juers” is an award-winning social housing development in Kingston, delivered under a Design and Construct contract as part of the Queensland Government’s social and affordable housing demonstration program. The project reimagines public housing through innovative architecture, sustainable design and strong community integration.

The development comprises 16 adaptable dwellings, including one- and two-bedroom apartments and two- and three-bedroom townhouse-style homes arranged in three interconnected clusters around a shared central space. Pedestrian-focused planning and passive design principles achieved an average 7.6-star NatHERS rating, setting a benchmark for environmentally responsive housing.

Architectural detailing incorporated cross-laminated timber (CLT) construction and a carefully coordinated building envelope combining brickwork, metal and fibre cement cladding. Communal gardens, a BBQ area and a children’s playground further enhance resident amenity and social connection. Delivered on schedule, the project establishes a high-quality, sustainable model for contemporary social housing in Queensland.
