Energy Queensland Training & Development Buildings (McLeod Street, Cairns)

The Energy Queensland Training Centre project involved the redevelopment of the former depot facility in McLeod Street, Cairns, transforming the site into a modern training centre, office accommodation and workshop facility.

The project required careful integration of contemporary building solutions while preserving key features and the heritage character of the original Cairns Powerhouse structure. The redevelopment successfully balanced modern operational requirements with the retention of significant architectural and historical elements.

Through detailed planning, stakeholder coordination and quality-focused delivery, the project was completed to a high standard and was recognised at the 2022 Far North Queensland Master Builders Awards, winning the Commercial Building category for projects valued between $5 million and $50 million.
