The Early Works package for the future Bickerton Island Boarding School delivered critical enabling infrastructure to support development of a new education facility for the Groote Archipelago community.

The scope included establishment of a fully operational 32-person workers camp comprising ensuite accommodation units, commercial kitchen and dining facilities, laundry and recreation areas. Essential services infrastructure was installed, including bore water supply, 180,000 litres of water storage and a complete filtration system to service the remote island location. Approximately 850m² of concrete hardstand was also constructed to facilitate ongoing construction activities and future building stages.

Delivered in an extremely remote environment, the project required complex marine logistics, workforce mobilisation via limited charter flights and adaptive programming in response to significant wet season rainfall. Strong Indigenous participation was achieved through engagement of local contractors and suppliers, supporting employment and skills development. The early works were completed ahead of schedule, establishing a robust foundation for subsequent stages and leading to award of the next phase of the project.
